How to Mark Up a PDF with Edits

Marking up a PDF is an effective way to provide clear feedback on the edits to your order. Follow these steps to annotate a PDF properly.


1. Download Adobe Acrobat Reader (Free)

If you donโ€™t have a PDF editor, you can download Adobe Acrobat Reader (Free) here:

Installation Instructions:

  1. Click the download link above.
  2. Uncheck any optional offers (e.g., McAfee) if not needed.
  3. Click Download Acrobat Reader and install the application.
  4. Open Acrobat Reader after installation.

2. Open the PDF for Editing

  1. Launch Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  2. Click File > Open, then select your PDF.
  3. Click Tools > Comment to access markup tools.

Text Changes

Tool: Highlight + Add Note

  • Highlight the text that needs to be changed.
  • Right-click > Add Note to Highlight, then type the new text.

Layout or Design Adjustments

  • Draw a rectangle around elements that need adjustment.
  • Use an arrow to point to items that should be moved or resized.
  • Add a Sticky Note to describe the change.

Image Replacements

Tool: Sticky Note or Text Box

  • Click on the image and add a note specifying what needs to change.
  • Example: “Replace this image with a high-resolution version.”
  • Important: If you are replacing an image, be sure to upload the updated image along with your PDF in the request form.

Link Updates

Tool: Highlight + Comment

  • Highlight the current link and add a comment with the correct URL.

4. Save and Upload Your Marked-Up PDF

  1. Click File > Save As, rename the file (e.g., Document-Edits_v2.pdf).
  2. Upload your PDF and any new images to the request form:
